Proud Palawa indie-pop artist Kaytlyn Johnson will be releasing her sophomore single on April 10th, 2025.
‘Soon’ was written and recorded in London and is a textbook summer pop anthem that will have you spinning and singing through that impending breakup.
After spending 2024 expanding her career in the UK, Kaytlyn says she is ecstatic to be back on country, ready to share a fun and unserious pop anthem with her Aussie community. “The writing process was incredibly fun. I worked with producer Lounge in a rare glimpse of summer in London and we just let the sunny Pop bliss wash over us. We had so much fun with the catchy sound and focussed on lyrics after the fact. This was challenging for me as I love starting with lyrics, but I am very proud of the process and our final product”
Kaytlyn says Soon is, in many ways, a younger sister of her debut release, Sunburn. “I really wanted to keep the upbeat live-band feeling alive in this second release. I am hoping these tracks form the basis of a really fun live experience for my audiences at gigs.”
Before having released any music, Kaytlyn had already performed with GRAMMY® award winning artist Lucky Oceans and opened for Australian pop-icon Thelma Plum. Kaytlyn has been taken under the wing of Kate Miller-Heidke and APRA AMCOS through various mentorship programs and is now ready to cement her own position in the Australian music scene with the momentum gained from her successful debut release, ‘Sunburn’.
Kaytlyn is set to release her debut EP in 2025, recorded in the state-of-the-art studios at ANU in Canberra and produced by ACT pop sensation, Sophie Edwards. This record will blur lines between Pop, Indie and Rock whilst keeping intricate lyrics and clever songwriting at the forefront.
